10,000+ Photos on Your Hard Drive and Half Are Duplicates or Burst Shots? This Free Open-Source Rust Tool Reclaimed 76GB in 2 Minutes
Storage Deduplication Lab Benchmark. After years of backing up phones and copying folders ('Phone Backup 2022', 'New Folder (2)'), most family and office hard drives are 40% filled with exact duplicate videos, renamed copies, and near-identical burst photos. We tested Czkawka (an 18k-star open-source Rust deduplicator using BLAKE3 hashing and perceptual pHash visual matching) on a real 184.2 GB (42,600-file) drive, safely reclaiming 76.4 GB in under 2 minutes with zero data loss.
