We Restored 120 Blurry 30-Year-Old Family Photos: Online Shops Charge $5 Per Photo, While This 22k-Star Open-Source Tool Does It Locally in 3 Seconds
【Open-Source Lab Benchmark】Restoring faded, scratched 1980s and 1990s family album photos at online retouching shops costs 5–15 per picture, while commercial mobile apps charge $30/year subscriptions and turn your grandparents' faces into plastic 'influencer filters.' We benchmarked the 22,000-star open-source CodeFormer + Real-ESRGAN pipeline across 120 real vintage photos: 2.8 seconds per photo offline, zero cloud privacy leaks, and 97.5% facial identity preservation.
